POSTPONEMENT
2025 Manitoba Indigenous
Summer Games are postponed
to Summer 2026
The Manitoba Aboriginal Sports & Recreation Council (MASRC), together with Norway House Cree Nation and Sagkeeng Anicinabe Government, has announced that the 2025 Manitoba Indigenous Summer Games (MISG) will be postponed to the summer of 2026. This decision was made in response to the ongoing wildfire emergency impacting communities across Manitoba and Northwest Ontario.
The Government of Manitoba declared a province-wide State of Emergency on May 28, 2025, and concerns around the unpredictability and severity of wildfires prompted MASRC’s Board of Directors—alongside our host Nations—to officially postpone the Games as of June 9, 2025.
We deeply acknowledge the time, energy, and commitment invested by communities, athletes, families, and volunteers in preparing for this event. Our primary concern remains the health, safety, and well-being of all participants.
MASRC remains dedicated to hosting the Games in 2026 in partnership with Norway House Cree Nation and Sagkeeng Anicinabe Government. Our long-term goal is to create meaningful opportunities to celebrate Indigenous youth through sport, pride, and resilience.
We’ll continue to share updates through our official channels as planning progresses.
